Updated yesterday from 2.2.8 to 2.2.9 . When I did it broke the superfish dropdown menu that I am using. Superfish 1.4.8 with jQuery 1.7.2

I have looked for Javascipt errors and any changes that would affect the CSS and can't find any obvious problems. I tried different jQuery versions and the latest superfish script.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Appears to be an issue with Wayfinder.... It is only returning the top level of the menu and not any levels further down the menu tree.

Try clearing your browser cache and cookies and deleting all files in the core/cache directory.

Also, try turning off the compress_js and compress_css System Settings.

The Wayfinder code hasn't changed, so the problem may be a leftover cookie or some outdated JS stuck in your browser cache.

The fix was to change my wayfinder tpl files, that were static, to being saved on the database and they worked. See everettg_99's post on http://bugs.modx.com/issues/10157

          Weird but that fix it.

Confirm, can't move to 2.2.9 before this issue will be fixed

Just throwing my hat into the ring here - 2.2.9 severely crippled my site as well in a similar fashion as others here have described. Had to downgrade.

A little additional information on this bug: it is only occurring when using a Media Source with a Static Chunk in Wayfinder. It appears fixing a bug in the parser has revealed a problem with how Wayfinder is rendering it's output. Working on a solution as quickly as we can...
