retina.js and phpthumb add @2x

Lately I use retina.js. http://retinajs.com
The script checks if you have an image in the same folder with the same image + added @2x in the filename. Like this: imagename@2x.jpg. The image needs to be 2x as big and it will be looking much better on ipad etc.

Does anyone knows a way to use phpthumb or other simple way to also render an image 2x as large in the same map and add the @2x?

Never mind, it seems retina.js doesn't work when you use phpthumb, because of the src="/image.php?src=assets..."

Looking for a solution..

I hate the retina.js script, doesn't show my images all the time and doesn't work with phpthumb that great.

I now use a very nice script when I add a class to my img it looks for the 2x bigger image (@2x.jpg):
