    Hi,

I got the login manager for a customer. I have to optimize the site for Google. I never used modx.

-Question 1: I tried on the site to make a sitemap.xml, but it does not work! Is there something wrong in the file robots

    # Default modx exclusions
    User-agent: *
    Allow: /
    Disallow: /assets/cache/
    Disallow: /assets/docs/
    Disallow: /assets/export/
    Disallow: /assets/import/
    Disallow: /assets/modules/
    Disallow: /assets/plugins/
    Disallow: /assets/snippets/
    Disallow: /install/
    Disallow: /manager/

    # For sitemaps.xml autodiscovery. Uncomment if you have one:
    # Sitemap: http://example.com/sitemap.xml

Question 2: How to install the the meta tag for Google?

    Thanks
    Philippe

A great extra for Sitemap creation is GoogleSiteMap
      - Install this via the package manager
      - Create a new resource. Set its Template to Empty
      - Name the resource sitemap. Do not forget to also name its alias as sitemap
      - Click on the Settings tab and set the Content Type to xml
      - Tick off Rich Text
      - Within the Resource's Content section put:
      [[!GoogleSiteMap]]

      - Save the resource
      - When viewing the resource you should now have a sitemap.xml based on your sites structure

In order to add the sitemap.xml to your robots.txt remove the # in front of the line that says:
      # Sitemap: http://example.com/sitemap.xml

      so that it reads:
      Sitemap: http://example.com/sitemap.xml

also change http://example.com/ to be your domain name.

Not sure what you mean by the Google Meta tag.

Thank you for this first answer.

        But there is a mystery!
        I cannot create a sitemap.xml
I use for example http://www.sitemap-maker.com/ and the answer I get is: URL cannot be read

Has it something to do with modx or with the provider?

        Thanks

Using the steps I outlined above you will not need to use an external sitemap.xml creator such as http://www.sitemap-maker.com/. After following my suggested steps you will have a sitemap.xml automaticaly built within MODX.

Perhaps if you could give the address of your site I may be able to help further.

              Hi philingbb,

I think the problem is with your provider:
              1) that link doesn't work with http://www.sitemap-maker.com/ or with http://www.xml-sitemaps.com
              2) i have a MODX Cloud account and I was able to use http://www.sitemap-maker.com to create a sitemap, so I don't think it's MODX (I'm running a site on 2.2.7-pl)

See if your provider is blocking this. The other thing you can do is to look at your http access file to see if the request from www.sitemap-maker.com is making it to the web server.

              Hope this helps.

              Regards,
              Tom

Thank you all of you. I have to check it with my provider.
