I have installed the gallery Extra on other websites and it works just fine. However, I'm developing a website for a client on a temp IP address. This is the error I am getting:

[09-Sep-2013 21:29:55 UTC] PHP Warning: file_get_contents(/home/usrname/public_html/~usrname/assets/gallery/1/1.jpg) [<a href='function.file-get-contents'>function.file-get-contents</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/usrname/public_html/core/model/phpthumb/phpthumb.class.php on line 3210

Right now the root .htacess is re-writting the base to /~usrname/ and all of the config files have the temp /~usrname/ in all of the core filepaths.

The million dollar question is what do I need to change to have the gallery look for the site path without the (/~usrname) ?

I don't think Gallery works well on temporary urls. Thumbnails in the file manager sure don't. You can try setting the temporary base url in .htaccess to the /~temp directory though. It won't fix the file manager thumbnails.

I haven't tried it on a temporary url yet, but MoreGallery is ever so much finer than Gallery overall and it might work for you on the temporary directory even. https://www.modmore.com/extras/moregallery/

I know it's an old thread so I'm just posting this for future reference if anyone lands here with the same problem.

I found this post while searching for a solution to a similar issue: The site was halfway done and I migrated to a temp url for the client to populate his new site. Same problem arose, no thumbs in back or front end due to the "~user" bit in the url.

In my case switching to a different plugin meant investing (and losing) hours of work since I already had gallery working with TVs and other stuff just fine.

So my solution was simple, I parked one of my unused domains on the server until we point the real one, it worked like a charm.
