    Hi!

    I noticed today, that the setup errors out if mysql ist not available.
    Fill out the form and click on "Test database server connection and view collations." - Nothing happens.
    Firebug shows a 500 return from the webserver.

    Digging into the sourcecode, I can see it stops at modInstallDriver_mysql->verifyServerVersion.

    On line 142 of setup/includes/drivers/modinstalldriver_mysql.class.php there is:

    $handler = @mysql_connect(...);

    which of course results in a fatal error when the mysql extension is not loaded.

    I don't know if this should be considered a bug, because the general requirements page (http://develop.modx.com/develop/revolution/requirements/) does not list mysql as a needed extension.

    Here's a short backtrace from the ajax request:

                [type] => ->
            )
    )

    It's not difficult to enable mysql, but to my mind the setup should handle this gracefully.

    What do you think?

    System: Windows 7 x64
    Webserver: Apache 2.4.6
    Mysql: 5.6
    PHP: 5.4.18
    ModX: Revo 2.2.9

    Greetings

    Nico
