I'm just getting started on MODX (MODX Revolution 2.2.8-pl (traditional)). I'm finishing up a website and would like to create a user account for the client so they can modify some of the content.
I've created a user account and fiddled with some of the permissions, but the problem is I can't log into it. I type the username and password correctly and it just brings me back to the login screen again. I'm not sure if this behavior indicates a common newbie error...?

Users need at least access to the mgr context in order to be allowed to login into the manager.
What are the user's permissions?

Are you following a tutorial? I found this one really handy:

You just have to stick with it and follow the steps. It was overwhelming to me at first, but the reward of actually setting up a user is worth it!

Hi,
I followed this tutorial twice. It seems like MODx knows the user is there, because if I type the wrong password, it tells me it's the wrong password, but if I type the correct one, it just blinks at me and shows the login screen again, with the fields cleared out.

If it's any consolation, it usually takes me three or four tries before I finally get a working login, front-end or Manager.
