So, I'm running ModX Revo 2.2.8 through a shared hosting server. I only recently installed ModX, and I've got my heart set on using it for my next project- I honestly think it's the best tool for the job, but unless I can figure out what the heck is going on with my ISP, I may have to try a different solution. So, here's the situation.

When connected to my home internet connection (Time Warner Cable), I can browse the front end of the site perfectly all day long. If I log into the ModX Manager, I usually have about 5 minutes where the panel works perfectly, and then things begin to deteriorate...fast.

First, the CSS stops loading, so I just get a white page with a bunch of plain text links and form inputs all over the place. Then, it stops loading anything on the page at all, saying that it "couldn't find the server." At this point, I'm getting the same error message when I try to access the front end of the site, as well as any website in the world that's hosted through my hosting providers (including their own company website). After about an hour, it comes back.

I know that there's something funny with my ISP because if I turn on my iPhone's 3G hotspot feature and connect my laptop to its nifty little wifi connection, the ModX manager buzzes right along for as long as I need to work. It's literally only when I'm trying to use the ModX manager on my home network. I would say that I could just use my 3G hotspot for site work...but neither my phone bill nor my iPhone's battery life is prepared for that.

Has anyone experienced this? At all? I've never even heard of this issue before...

Any suggestions would be appreciated very much.

    Thanks! Sam

Sounds like your ISP has some kind of bandwidth throttling, limiting bandwidth or perhaps the number of requests within a given time frame. The Revo back-end does a lot of AJAX requests.
