I just moved over a MODX Cloud project to a Strato Server and everything appeared to be fine. However when the client started to add text content to a resource using TinyMCE, it would sit with the dreaded "saving" pop up forever. It turned out that this only happened when someone copied text and pasted it into Tiny.

I then reinstalled Tiny to see if that would clear it up, but it did not. In fact it now is worse. Tiny doesn't even show up anymore in the resource form.

I then deinstalled, manually cleaned out the cache folder, checked to see if all files were deleted from the server, then downloaded the add-on directly, uploaded the zipped package using ftp, in PM search for the package locally, installed it, and still the same thing. All files have been installed on the server, all settings are there to see, no MODX errors were written in the error log. And now I don't know what else to try. Oh wait... I also ran setup again. Nothing changed.

Here are some of the particulars:
    MODX 2.2.8
    PHP 5.2.17
    MySQL 5.5.31-log

    allow_url_fopen:on
    allow_url_include:off
    magic_quotes_gpc:off
    safe_mode:off
    register_globals:off

    Tiny MCE 4.3.3

    Anyone have any ideas?

Just for fun, I thought I would test eIRTE, but that also does not show up for use on the resource form. If I assign Codemirror as the resource editor it shows up though!

I did a basic installation on this strato server in a different directory, and installed just tincyMCE. Even on this installation it does not show up. I don't know what compatibility problems I am having.

In the MODX error logs there is this error:
      [2013-08-20 07:40:55] (ERROR @ /dev/connectors/layout/modx.config.js.php) Error caching action map mgr/actions

      Maybe that enlightens someone?

So, after more playing around, I realize that the issue is not isolated to text editors.
I created a brand new modx installation on the hosting space and installed version x and migx and to my surprise they also do not seem to work. If you click on the component from the drop down menu, you just get a blank space.

The strato server fulfills all of MODX server requirements, but for some reason something is not working right.

Check the server's PHP error log, and check your browser's javascript error console.

After another cup of coffee, it all seemed clearer.
Of course it was a permissions problem with the packages installed via package manager. The public user was not allowed to read any files within the tinymce folder. I changed the permissions to 0755 and now it works!
