    Hello everyone

I'm very new to MODX and learning it with MODX: The Official Guide. The book keeps referring to the /core directory as sitting outside the public_html directory but I haven't been able to locate it. Sounds like an important one. Could someone tell me the path to the directory? I am using MODX Evolution 1.0.10 for the reason of compatibility with older versions of IE.

    Thank you in advance

    Ead

MODx Evolution does not have a core directory. What you are reading is for Revolution (MODx 2).

Makes sense, thanks. The Official Guide makes for good reading but I think I'm being confused about differences between Revo and Evo. Hope they become clearer as I read on.

The Official Guide was written for Revo. There is a bit at the end of most chapters discussing the Evo differences and similarities.

Actually for Evo, I would (naturally) recommend this, although it is becoming dated. http://sottwell.pogwatch.com/modx-from-the-inside.html

By default the core directory is inside the webroot, alongside your other MODX files. That's why it's referenced as "/core" -- the "/" denotes root (webroot in this case). But the name and its location are configurable in MODX Revo, so really, it could be located anywhere that your user (or more specifically PHP) has permissions.
