    Hi

I'm new to MODx and I like how it handles templates (snippets, chunks, TV..)
I'm still not familiar on how to create new Components (still studying Doodles & 'Developing an Extra in MODX Revolution' tutorial).
As a shortcut I was tempted to integrate CodeIgniter into MODx having my classes communicating with snippets.

If this make sense, what could be the easiest way to do integrate CI into MODx ?

    thank you

I would strongly urge you not to try integrating CI into MODX: there is already a framework under the hood here, xPDO. Adding CodeIgniter to the mix is inefficient at best, and probably confusing too boot... it certainly wouldn't qualify as a shortcut from any architectural standpoint.

The Doodles bit is probably not the best introduction to writing components, in my opinion. I would start with understanding Snippets and then work towards plugins and custom manager pages. Understand that they act quite a bit like controllers: they interface with your classes (and not the other way around).

As Everett says, the Doodles tutorial is overkill for extras that don't need elaborate ExtJS code or custom database tables.

If your add-on component is relatively simple, you can use PackMan extra to build the transport package for it.

You might also look at the MyComponent tutorial for a more automated way to build simple or complex packages: http://bobsguides.com/mycomponent-tutorial.html.
