hi my other website recently got spammed and now it’s getting comment posts all time...

i wondered how safe modx is in regard to this. if you add the {{comments}} to bottom of a page, can this get spammed or is it ok? what measures can i take if it is vulnerable?

Limit comments to registered users is one way to protect against comment spam.

Or adding CAPTCHA to the comments form will stop bots from posting. You would have to look around in the forums or in the wiki to configure it.

ok i’ve had a look around and read about adding captcha to UserComments, however i think i’m using jot.

Basically every page i want people to be able to add comments to i’ve just added {{comments}} at bottom. and when browsing my resources the Comments chunk says next to it: "Comments (Jot) showing beneath a blog entry."

so does this mean i have jot and not UserComments which already has captcha built in? how do i turn the captcha on for jot to work with how i have my comments? thanks for any help...

ok one other thing, where are comments stored, now i’m notified of new ones but i wasn’t before i put the captcha and publish default on so how do i check if there are any comments already posted through the 100s of pages of my site, is there a way to pull them all up? so i can delete any spam that might of already got in etc??

how can i manage these comments in future without visiting the actual page, i’ve too many pages...
