    hi there. i´m the new one. wink

    i´m currently deciding with cms i should use after working with ’contenido’ for a couple of years. modx and typolight have made it to the final round.

    so here´s my question: typolight got some nice (for me quite important) features. i was wondering if modx can compete with those?

    * Live update feature
    * Automatic e-mail encryption (spam protection)
    * Advanced search and sorting options
    * Supports SMTP in addition to PHP’s mail function
    * Multiple back end languages
    * Supports multiple websites in one tree
    * Supports password protect pages
    * Supports hidden pages
    * Newsletter: Double-opt in
    * Newsletter: HTML or plain text format
    * Calendar and mini-calendar
    * Multiple file uploads
    * Forms: Automatic input validation
    * Forms: Send uploaded files as e-mail attachment
    * Documentation (user guide) in German

    looking forward to any information that gets me further in my decision. huh

    thanks and have a great day!

      If those are absolute requirements right now, then you’ll likely be happier with Typolight. MODx can do most (no live update though) of those with some add-ons, but it won’t be as straightforward and clean as a solution that comes with those features baked in or plug-and-play add-ons.

      MODx is incredibly flexible, and empowers it’s users to create just about anything they desire. We don’t force you into little boxes, don’t have a "MODx look" common to so many projects and I would submit we have one of the greatest user communities period. MODx has focused on being a content management framework for users to have absolute control, and not YAPS (Yet Another Portal System). There’s too many good YAPS solutions out there to play in that space, and if that’s your thing.

      You might also consider that the Packt Publishing stance on those two products, and the future roadmap coming with 097 and beyond (suffice it to say it’s pretty darned incredible, and the 097 beta is due out soon). We do have an active German user base and support forum here, and there are a lot of efforts going on for expanding on that at http://modxcms.de/ .
