page editing permissions

hi, I want to give permission to users to edit a single document i.e. they should be able to edit the page for which they have been given permisssion. iam unable to do that. i created a role but iam unable to assign it to any user. please help.

There are two types of users, manager users and web users. You can only assign roles to manager users.

You need to create manager user groups and document groups, and assign the manager user groups to the document groups as appropriate. This is done in Security -> Manager permissions.

In Security -> Roles, create your role, as you have done.

Then in Security -> Manager Users, create your manager user and assign him the role you created.

Now, all of your documents will have to be assigned to a document group that the user in question does NOT have access to, and assign the document you want him to access in the document group assigned to his manager user group.

This is the tricky part, it is not as easy as assigning a doc to a group, you also need to make all other docs ’private’ in order to isolate one page. Remember that you can use the Document Manager module to change the permissions on multiple documents (this saved my hide recently).
