My client just called me and said that her site tree is no longer visible and when you click on any of the buttons at the top of the page you just get a blank white content area. She was using the site for a number of months, hadn't touched it in a few weeks now it doesn't work. I know it needs to be upgraded to 2.2.8, but I'm nervous to do that without it working at all.
Screen shot attached.
Any help would be appreciated.

I would clear browser cache first and see what happens.
For last resort, I would delete core/cache/*.*
Hope this helps.

Other questions to ask...
Where is this hosted? Is it on a shared hosting environment?
Last time she updated it...did she add any 3rd party code?
In regards to upgrading...
You could set it up on a test server and then run the upgrade to see if that fixes it.

Hosted at HostGator Shared Hosting.
She has added nothing.
HostGator may have updated in the last few months. I don't have that information yet. It's her account and I asked her to check with them.
Whats the size of database? Is it too big?
Also if its cPanel host, you might find error.log files in the file system, which you can check to see for clues.

I just found out that HostGator migrated her account. So, something seems to have gotten broken when it was moved.
I'm not sure where to begin.

Also go into the database and turn off the compress_css and compress_js settings.
Any time a site is migrated you should run Setup in upgrade mode, then manually delete all files in the core/cache directory, and clear your browser cache and cookies.
