Have a look at the tv input type 'resource list':
http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Template+Variable+Input+Types#TemplateVariableInputTypes-ResourceList
<?php
/* keep this from running in the Manager */
if ($modx->context->get('key') == 'mgr') {
return;
}
/* (optional) Don't execute for existing resources --
Remove the following line to let users modify
existing parents in NewsPublisher */
if (!($mode == modSystemEvent::MODE_NEW)) return;
/* get parent ID from TV */
$parentId = $resource->getTVValue('Parent');
/* save the parent id in the resource's parent field */
$resource->set('parent', $parentId);
$resource->save();

[{"pagetitle:!=":"Home","deleted:=":"0", "published:=":"1","hidmenu:=":"0"}]Newspublisher fires OnDocFormSave after it saves the resource.
You should be able to show a "Parent" TV with a list of pagetitles instead of the parent field.
ofcourse just make a new TV that its a drop down, I just needed a way to make it work with the form.BTW, the problem with integrating this capability into NewsPublisher is that most people would want some kind of algorithm for selecting the potential parents (rather than showing every resource on the site), and everyone's algorithm would be different. I can think of some ways to handle this, but it won't be simple, and it won't happen any time soon.
Oh I've been going at this the most complicated way possible laugh ofcourse just make a new TV that its a drop down, I just needed a way to make it work with the form.
