Greetings. I'm working on a custom email notification for newly-created users. I see how to change the message body (via signupemail_message), but how about the from fields? There's a system setting for the email address (emailsender), but none for the sender's name (it uses the site_name).

And, future development will require a different email notification depending upon the user's group. Is there a component built for this already, or will this likely necessitate the writing of a custom plugin?

Which version of MODx are you using? How are the users being created? If self-registration, what registration snippet are you using?

Sorry for the lack of details. I'm running 2.2.8.

The entry point I'm uncertain about is from within the manager - adding users in the Manage Users panel. I've figured out how to alter the mail headers otherwise (via a snippet) by entering an array of options to override the defaults in moduser's sendMail method. This I've done in a snippet used to import a csv list of users.

I'll be using the Login snippet for front-end registration. There again, I don't see an "out of the box" way to alter all the headers for the activation email (seems only the subject is changeable via the activationEmailSubject property).

        Thanks for your insights!

You might look at the Subscribe extra. It might be possible to alter the email message based on user group by putting snippets or output modifiers in the email Tpl chunk. I'm not sure it would work.
