For a site that should be very similar twice (just a couple of texts should be different), I need to divide up a website in two contexts. However, any resources I put into the new context (so not web) doesn't show up- it just directs me toward the Home page, as if the resource doesn't exist. It doesn't see any difference whether I use id=12 or id=azerty when 12 is in the French context, it does when I put 12 into the web context.

    Save me!

What method are you using to host multiple contexts? Are you using ContextRouter or doing it all manually?

Are you using the right url when trying to preview the resource? If you login to the manager using context1.com/manager you can't view resources from context2.com because it uses a different url, in order to preview resources from context2.com from the manager you need to login via context2.com/manager so make sure you are using the correct url when trying to preview resources.

I wrote a review/tutorial on how to use ContextRouter to host multiple sites which you can view here.

      Good luck.

I'm not using any method- I'm not trying to use multiple domains either. It's all on one domain. However, for clarity and wayfinder purposes, I want to split the two up with contexts. When I right-click on the resource in the "new" context, and select View Resource, I just get put into the homepage (as described above).

Contexts don't work in that way AFAIK they need to either be a subdomain or it's own domain as you can see in the RTFM.

What exactly is it you want to accomplish?

I need one home page, and then 4 subpages, in two different languages. However, I wanted to keep them apart for Wayfinder. I guess I'll find another solution.

Edit: I solved this by just using two invisible weblinks to the "correct" files. Not as pretty but it works. [ed. note: jeroencu last edited this post 13 years, 2 months ago.]

You can use the babel in order to host multi-language sites check out the instructions in the RTFM.

Hopefully that helps solve your issue more elegantly.

I fully agree with Ben. Just made my own website multilangual using Babel by splitting up default context into 2 [later 3] contexts.
Look at http://www.multilingual-modx.com/blog/2011/multilingual-websites-with-modx-and-babel.html for a clear manual.
