Has any body worked out a way to to deploy Modx onto a server with pre-installed packages?

Every time I do a install I seem to be installing a number of common packages afterwards such as TinyMCE, VersionX, Wayfinder, getResources...etc. Can all these be setup automagicaly within the initial install process.

Perhaps the packages could be sitting somewhere waiting to be installed.

I understand what I am asking would have to be rejigged every time a new update for ModX comes out.

Perhaps in a future release of MODX we could have an option during initial setup to install a number of common packages.

    Just some thoughts and ideas.

      Download the packages from http://modx.com/extras/
Put them into a folder, then after installation simply upload the packages to the core/packages folder.
In Package Management, search for packages locally, they should all appear for installation.

It's possible that this method may not pull future updates for the packages, although I'm not exactly sure about that point.

The latest version of MyComponent will create a transport package that installs the subpackages when the package is installed. You have to learn how to use MyComponent, but the subpackage part is as simple as putting the subpackage transport.zip files in the subpackage directory. From there on, they're handled automatically.
