isset not recognizing cookie

I have a snippet that is trying to set a variable based on whether or not a cookie exists.



But it is not working. Under no circumstance is the cookie being recognized as being set.

I have checked the browser and the cookie IS set.

I have tested it in a number of browsers and it’s a no-go on any of them.

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried to examine the $_COOKIE superglobal with something like


If $_COOKIE doesn’t exist or doesn’t contain anything, and if the cookie’s domain and path match the server, the only other thing I can think of is to look at your php configuration.
If the php.ini directive variables_order doesn’t contain a capital "C", then PHP won’t automatically parse the cookies into that superglobal for you.
You can output your php configuration information with

There’s a phpinfo() link in Reports -> System Info.

Also, just making sure the obvious is covered, but, make sure your page is not cacheable or you are executing the snippet with non-cacheable tags if it is...

I just discovered the problem.

I used "var_dump($_COOKIE);" and the cookie wasn’t there.

And that’s when I realised that I hadn’t set the path on the cookie I was looking for.
