My first post to the forums, the information here has been a god send.

I am working on a local Modx install, then uploading it to a web server. Unfortunately the web host is unreliable and it is near impossible to work on it while on-line thus why I work on a local server. Although I have worked on some resources so I want to retrieve them to my local server.

I want to transport my resources from my local host to my web host.

Packman has solved transporting almost everything however I still cannot move resources. I have been using phpMyadmin to move tables however this does not save template variable settings. Provisioner looks like what I need however as I understand it will not work on the latest versions of Modx.

Any alternative methods you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

If you plan to do all your development on the local server initially then the easiest solution would be to copy the entire database up to the live server. Assuming no changes have been made on the live server (they would be overwritten) then you would end up with all resources/tvs/whatever on the live server as well

This would be best if I was to upload the website to the web host and be done with it, however this is an ongoing project so I am uploading my most recent versions on a weekly basis.

I understand I should avoid working on both to avoid conflicts, but without losing work I need a way to retrieve resources from a web server, and then a way to deploy everything from my local serve to my web host.

I did that originally, but before I do it again I want to retrieve my resources from the web, and add them to my local so that all my work is in one place

well, than do the same just in the other direction.
              db-dump from server to local.
If you have touched any files ftp also them from web to local.

Thanks, I have saved my resources to my local host by exp/importing the site_resources rows from the database to save the 200-300 resources I created.

Now I am going to keep working solely on my local installation, then create milestones that are backed up in Dopbox, then upload my latest version to my web host.

Packman would have been really useful if it included resource transportation however I have now found ImportX to be able to import resources with a .csv, this will save me a lot of time

Ofcourse if there is a package that can help with moving host please let me know

don't forget to import the other tables which may have changed content like

                  modx_site_tmplvar_contentvalues and others

                    modx_site_templvar_contentvalues? that's exactly what I am missing!

Thank you, I've managed to almost retore my site and wondered how to get the resoursces' template variable settings but that is more than likely what I was looking for
