MODX is very very easy for templating. The base for the template of your site is just HTML and CSS where you can put the MODX-tags for content from the CMS. No knowledge of PHP needed in this stage!! In other CMSs like Drupal and Wordpress you need lot's of PHP-files to be included/nested so you could get lost easy when troubleshooting.
Another great advantage is the structure of the manager: document structure on the left and settings and other admin things on top of the manager. This is in my opinion as how it always should be! Your clients will recognise the structure of documents fast and easy. In other CMSs you will again often get lost in structure and logics of manager.
