blank manager

I have a revolution 2.2.5 site. As of a couple days ago when I go to the manager, it goes to the configuration check page but any other page I go to is blank. On the configuration check it shows this message:

Configuration warning: Installer still present
What does this mean?
The setup/ directory contains the installer for MODX. Just imagine what might happen if an evil person finds this folder and runs the installer! They probably won't get too far, because they'll need to enter some user information for the database, but it's still best to remove this folder from your server. It is located at: /home/eastern/public_html/setup/

Configuration warning: register_globals is set to ON in your php.ini configuration file
What does this mean?
This configuration makes your site much more susceptible to Cross Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. You should speak to your host about what you can do to disable this setting.

The only thing that I know that has changed is that Hostgator.com moved the site to a different server. The site still works but the manager does not. I tried removing the cache folder like some others have suggested but that did not restore the manager. I put back in the set up folder but when I go to that it just takes me back to the main page of the site.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Try re-installing MODX. Use a fresh copy of 2.2.5 and follow the upgrade process seen http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Upgrading+MODx. Disable Friendly URL's prior to upgrading/reinstalling in the database if you can't get to the settings in the manager. Re-enable them after success.

Clear the core/cache files before re-running setup and extract the 2.2.5 zip file on the server itself instead of using FTP.

This move could cause problems with package management, which will likely be looking to the prior server's path. If you have issues, check the error log to see if package management is using the old server root path, or new.

After all is well, make sure run the upgrade to 2.2.8 (use same as above).

The "errors" shown are just notifications. I believe the blank manager has been caused by compression of the css en js files. Go into the database tables and get into the settings table. In this table try to set de compression of css en js to 0 [zero]. Clear the cache directory and reload the manager page.

Where exactly is that field. I looked in the modx_system_settings database in PHPMyAdmin and didn't find any field such as decompression_of_css_en_js? Am I missing something?

Go to System -> System Settings and put 'compress' in the search box at the upper right. Press "Enter" and both settings should come up.

Double-click on the value to change it and make sure to click somewhere else in the grid after the change.

Can search in phpMyAdmin system_settings table for "compress" as well. If you can't get to the system settings in the manager you will need to change them both from 1 to 0 in the database. Then clear the core/cache folder, and your file browser cache. Reload the manager.
