I think you can only use the ^ placeholders in Evo (?)

Combine and minify your CSS & JS, I use: http://modx.com/extras/package/smartoptimizer.
Move all of your JS to the bottom of the page.
Use this to get a smaller file size for jquery: http://projects.jga.me/jquery-builder/
Add Expires headers
