Hi Bruno. I'm a MIGX noob so apologies if this has come up before.

Having just created a sortable list of meetings this morning, I can see how great it is for clients to reorder rows and sort them by "grabbing" a row and dropping it somwhere.

Specifically for clients, I don't think they will realise that the rows in a MIGX grid are sortable and am proposing the attached as a usability improvement.

    1. A new default column at the start of any content with a grabby grid indicator. Sorry - no idea what to call that but it's the 6 grey dots starting each row smiley
    2. Putting your mouse over this changes the cursor to the standard crosshairs cursor.
    3. Not illustrated in the screenshot but there should be some indication as to where the grabbed row is about to be dropped. Currently if you drag a row up or down the rows, you have no idea where it's really going to land. I like the way the MODX tree indicates where a Resource is about to be dropped before you release the mouce.

I hope they're of some use. Really going to love using MIGX. smiley

Would rather like the long awaited inline grid editing as a new improvement of that already more than great extra =), but if something like this is going to be implemented, I'd also not say "no"...as for the drag-bar-icon i would rather choose an up/down arrow icon than the 9 dots (they somehow don't indicate anything to me) and then I would only show the crosshair if hovered over this icon and not over the whole row (because then they might not get, that they could right-click the rows to edit them...but anyways, it's just about telling your clients that they can sort a migx grid =), then they know...

From a usability standpoint, up/down arrows are the worst. Drag and drop is far simpler. Ever had to move an item in a UI that only allows for one hitch up or down with an arrow? Put 100 items in, add a new one that ends up at the bottom and then move it to the top with single click arrows? PITA and then some.

Some kind of simple notation that drag and drop is available would be far preferable.

That's the idea as illustrated smiley

The idea of the dots suggests a textured grid ...some kind of tactile element.
Inspiration from a few Expression Engine Add Ons I use.

This is a misunderstandig =), I ment the up/down arrow as Drag'n'Drop indicator instead of the 9 dots, not that you can click the button to move the item up or down (which is indeed a very bad implementation =D)

I think I'll just place some text in the grid TV's caption to indicate drag and drop for sorting from now on. Till something better comes along.
