    Hello,

does anybody here have hands-on experience with ContentServ CMS, and can compare it with MODx?

        Google is your friend :
        Link wink

It’s a commercial CMS, and it doesn’t seem "light" tongue

Yes, use MODx. It makes prettier URLs.

Well... since they don’t have an anonymous demo (have to fill out a form and they’ll contact you), there’s no real comparison I could do between the two CMSs. The only thing we have to go on is the look and feel:

From the look of the fronend, it probably has a Mambo-like interface, which I fumbled with for a couple months and never got the hang of. If this is the case, then it would explain why they need a "specialist" to guide you through their online demo rolleyes

The URLs are NOT very human friendly, which we can all agree upon.

Finally, by looking at the source code, I found it to be overly cluttered and certainly NOT XHTML compliant; or transitional, as their DOCTYPE says it’s supposed to be. Single quoted HTML attributes and Javascript outside even the HTML tags is a mess IMO.

The pages certainly load fast (< 0.01s for me), but I wouldn’t put my money into a CMS that doesn’t comply with standards, and I don’t just mean W3C.

So there’s what I’ve got from just looking at it. If we could get a live demo without their "specialist" we could give you a better review.
