Generating a Site Map

I am nearing the completion of my website and I wanted to make a page that listed out each page and corresponding children and so forth. We know it as the Site Map on most websites.

Is there a way ModX can generate a text file of the site tree? Or does anyone know of a reliable software that can?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Why not use Wayfinder? Its flexibility in formatting its output by using chunks as output templates for every part of the output can let it be used for any kind of menu; and really that’s all a site map is, a mega-menu.

For building XML/text site maps I have been using the ’site map’ snippet @

along with an XSL transformation to make it a bit more readable.

I second using Wayfinder for site maps aimed at humans though.

I always put on on my 404 page too. A simple [[Wayfinder]] call sufficed as you can see at http://www.wssunaa.org/index.php?id=5000000

id=500000?? Are you manually changing your id then in the database for your error document?

But our friend Taff has a problem: something like http://www.wssunaa.org/dfdfdf is not bringing up the error page.

Yeah I figured that out too. However I would expect an error page to show up not only when you’re mistyping an URL according to a certain scheme.

Maybe he has use for a customized 404 error on the server level with a text that’s using something like this:

"We are terribly sorry, but we can only accept errors after the equal sign in /index.php?id=. We kindly ask you to adjust your mistyping accordingly."
