    I was scrolling with the middle scroller on my wireless mouse, but accidentally did it in the top frame. I saw that the grey background kept repeating, and I kept scrolling for the heck of it.

    I noticed a lone Search box at the bottom-left corner. Typing in something didn’t do anything. Any idea what this is/was used for?

      There is a form with a single field positioned off the screen; I think it’s something to do with javascript.
          <form action="index.php" style="margin:0;padding:0;position:absolute;top:1000px;">
              <input type="text" name="focusStealer" />
          </form>

        Yeah, sounds like that’s it. I wonder what’s the purpose of it, though...

            Lol, in all the time I’ve been working with MODx I’ve never noticed that there. I’m not sure if it serves any purpose now, or whether it’s a remnant from some of the legacy code that we’ve phased out in recent releases - only one way to find out I suppose wink

              My guess when I saw it was that it was legacy code from Etomite that never got phased out for some reason, since it doesn’t do anything.

              I hadn’t actually checked the source (HTML or PHP-wise) to see what it referred to, though.

                I’m doing some code cleanup and want to address this one more time.

                I did a fulltext search for the word ’focusStealer’ (case-insensitive even) and only one result was returned: [tt]manager/frames/menu.php[/tt]

                Would it be safe to assume this code can be removed?

                  I’d say try it on a local install, and see if editing and creating content works.

                    Definitely something to do with Etomite:
                    http://www.etomite.org/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t1032.html
                    Sounds like it was probably a workaround for an older browser.
