Answered I am new and having issues with file upload.

    I installed IIS 8.0 php and mysql on my home computer to build and run a small website.

    The problem I am having with MODX is I can not upload files in the manager. I select the files I press upload and the response I get is 'OK' but nothing shows up in the folder. I check the folder out locally and nothing has been added. I first thought it may be a permissions issue. Then I realized that I can create folders inside of other folders through the manager, so writing permissions are ok. Then I checked to make sure php was set to upload files and that seems ok as well. The option in php.ini is 'on' and the file limit is set to 2M and the file I am trying to upload is 8K.

    I can manually copy the files to the correct directory, but it is annoying me to no end that I can not fix the upload issue. Would really appreciate some advice on what I could look at to fix this issue. Right now I have set base website folder to 'everyone' permissions with rwx, still not working so it has to be something else. I am just trying to learn and would like to get this fixed.


    Upon further inspection I am getting this error if it means anything.

    • MODX Version: 2.2.2
    • PHP Version: 5.4
    • Database (MySQL, SQL Server, etc) Version: 5.6 community server
    • Additional Server Info: IIS 8.0
    • Installed MODX Add-ons: tinyMCE
    • Error Log Contents: (attach as file if it’s too large) Where do I find the error log? AFAIK, there is no error, if I could find one it might help. I have experience running linux and I find errors useful, if anyone knows where I could look for a reported error it might help.

      Uploading files involves two directories. First, the file is uploaded to a temporary directory with a randomly generated temporary filename, then it is moved to its permanent location and the temporary file is deleted. Check where PHP thinks the upload_tmp_dir should be - you can find out in the Reports -> System Info page. If it is undefined, that means it will use the system default. In *nix systems that's usually /tmp or /var/tmp. I don't know about Windows, although I think it might be c\windows\tmp. In any case, you need to make sure of your permissions for both directories.
