I’ve noticed with MODx upgrades that the user needs to download the entire ZIP/GZIP/etc. to upgrade. Would it be possible to have a special upgrade-only download with only the changed files, or was 0.9.6.1 one of those times where all of the files were tweaked in some way?

Obviously, this is referring to the bug-fix branches, not something major releases.

0.9.6.1 is a pretty major upgrade, and there’s really too many potential problems that could crop up with that due to so many files being touched. Definitely not something that’d be supported. You can pull a diff view in Trac if you’d like to satisfy your curiosity.

The largest set of files to upload are the "browser" utility in the Manager (mcpuck) and the TinyMCE plugin in /assets. I know you can skip uploading the TinyMCE plugin if you don’t want to get the latest version. You can always upgrade that separately some other time if you want to.

It seems possible as long as we keep track of each revision and just diff the two into a package... oh wait, Trac seems to be able to do it pretty nicely:

Right, you can do it with trac, but I’m not going to support this method. Too many pitfalls at this point in time, like the fact that most people delete the install/ folder, and a diff simply will not restore the non-changed files...
