Looking at a possible new project. I would like to have your comments and suggestion for the same.

    Project: Portfolio website
    Content:
    1. Student profile (fname/lname/year of passing/awards won/etc.)
    2. Student works (2 types of works with different metadata)
    3. e-learning articles

    Phase 1
    (within 3 months of launch)
Covers 200 students and 400 (i.e. about 600 pages of content) projects with 1600 images (avg. 4 images per project)

Phase 2 (within 9 months of launch)
Covers additional 1800 students and 3600 projects 15000 images.

If all goes well smiley every year new content similar to "Phase 1" will be added.

Though the above can be achieved with modx documents and TVs, will it be better to implement a custom module/snippets to store and pull data from custom tables?

Lastly, has anyone ever done something similar? Would it be possible for you to share your experience/technique?

    Thanks.

Please can someone shed some light on whether to use custom tables + module + snippet OR go with modx documents and TVs for the above project?

I am not confident on what to use huh really need some suggestions form the community.

      Thanks.

I’d do that as a custom table/module solution, which should be entirely feasible.

Since almost 90% of the above mentioned website content is generated via snippet+template+placeholder... is there a way I can cache the output to boost speed and reduce db load?
