    Hi folks,

I'm after some advice really about whats possible with Revo and what Add ons I might need with a project I'm thinking about. We are looking to make an auditing tool for our customers who are clinicians.

The idea is that the they would be able to login and add basic patient records, patients visit the clinicians regularly to have a device fitted, I would like to able to record each visit, calculate the number days the device has been fitted and which brand/size was fitted at each visit and the reason for change.

Beyond that we like to be able to work out average device lifetimes by brand or by size and display that as a graph.

Does anyone have any thoughts about how that might be accomplished without resorting to too much bespoke code. I am quite accomplished using ModX Evo, and have had some experience with Revo, I have coded in PHP but to be honest I am very rusty these days.

    Thanks

    Carl

I would use MIGX (MIGXdb) for this; possibly even the not-yet-fully-released MIGXfe. Each clinic would have its own login, with MIGXdb to handle their entries in a custom database table. It depends on how much you would want to adjust the Manager interface to suit your users or would rather use the front-end.

I worked in Medical Records for the University of Miami for three years, as well as building a few custom FoxPro and dBase databases for just this sort of thing, and I can understand what you are trying to do.

Thanks Sottwell, thats given me a good starting point I think.

I was thinking of keeping the clinicians in the front end, and I guess that would be my preferred choice, I hadn't even thought about giving them access to the manager, but I guess if it could be adjusted to suit then that would work too.

We, well the client, currently hand out an excel spreadsheet to the clinics to do the auditing, which kinda works but has lots of limitations, I can't help but feel that there is a better way, the response from the spreadsheet is that there is a demand for the tool but people are reluctant to use it because of the limitations.

        Anyways, thanks for the input.

You should be able to give each "group" its own page, using NewsPublisher. How well NewsPublisher works with MIGx and MIGXdb I don't know.

If you could tell a bit more about the datastructure and the input-forms needed I could tell you, if MIGXfe would allready do what you need.
I have a example-page with MIGXfe, if you are interested. Its running a tennis/badminton - court - reservation-system where they can load, view and edit reservations for clients in a timetable-view,
Its a different scnenario, but you can see what's allready possible with MIGXfe (and some custom stuff)

Ideally it would go something like this.

A clinician logs in and creates a patient record.

As each patient comes into clinic to have their device changed, the clinician is able to record the date of the visit, the brand and size of the device that has been changed to, and the reason for the change, when they next come in they can record the date that the device is removed. The number of days tat it was fitted should be calculated automagically. They can then add a record for the new device that is fitted.

So there would need to be a form to add a patient record, and a form to record a patients visit to that record.

We would then like to be able to use that same data to work out average device lifetimes, both per patient and per brand, average costs per patient and then display that data graphically.

Does that make sense, if not I could send you the spread sheet that is currently being used, although not through the open forum!

              Many Thanks

              Carl

Step one would be handled with NewsPublisher. The clinician logs in and creates a new page for the patient. The page would have a specific template, which will have a MIGXdb TV with all the fields you need. The default resource fields would handle patient name and other basic information. All the rest of it would be handled by the MIGXdb TV.

You can have a "dashboard" page for the logged-in clinician to land on upon login, with buttons for "add new", "update record", and various pages with whatever views of the data you want. It's all a matter of setting up the MIGXdb TV (no PHP required). The views can be managed through the migxLoopCollection snippet provided by MIGx, using the snippet properties to get the results you want. Again, shouldn't need any PHP.

Here's a tutorial for MIGXdb that illustrate how it might work. http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/MIGXdb.Create+a+basic+gallery-management+from+scratch+with+MIGXdb

Susan, I don't think NewsPublisher will handle MIGX TVs at this point. I could be wrong -- I haven't had time to test it.
