I use mxCalendar on any sites that need a calendar because it is pretty solid and has multiple uses. My current client has 60 events listed for the next 20 days and basically this continues for the next two months and foreseeable future. They've assured me the amount of events is going to grow. Were talking hundreds of events.

No surprise this brings mxCalendar to a crawl a few minutes of load time for the calendar page. I've already had to change max_execution_time just to view it. Is there any way to cache mxCalendar? Does churchEventsCalendar handle this sort of thing better? I don't want to have them reenter all the events and have the same thing happen with churchEvents. Any suggestions on what I should do for a calendar that will have approx 100 events per month. Server update? (although I'm not sure what that would do if the calendar is non cacheable) Am I screwed?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You might be better off going with a dedicated calendar service. Microsoft has one, you can use Google Calendar, iCalendar, etc.

Thanks, that may be the only option with so many events. Anything that is editable within the backend of modx? I just want to make sure that isn't an option before I tell them it isn't.

Well, Charles would have a better understanding of that than I would. Try posting in the mxcalendar board. https://forums.modx.com/board/?board=272
