Answered Wayfinder: show different levels, home page and subfolders under "news" folder?!?

i am trying to build a menu using Wayfinder. My site structure is something like:

home
news
-environment
-science
-technology

I need to show the :home" page and the subfolders containing articles: "environment", "science", "technology", but not "news". So i checked/ activated "Hide from Menus" for "news". Everything but "home" disappears from the menu. When i unchecked it (showed "news" in menu), everything appears including the "news" which i don't want in the menu. The "news" resource just contains my menu categories so they would look neater. So, is it possible to show "home" along with subfolders inside a hidden folder?

I read that it is impossible to do it in Wayfinder, I have to use Ditto instead. Wow?! Really? I tried excluding the parent (news) manually, but as soon as I hide the parent (news), all its children disappears. Manually or not, doesn't matter. I am using Revolution, so I don't want to use Ditto which to my understanding was created for Evolution. My problem in brief is: hide the container parent and show its children.
