Answered Losing Chinese content on save

Hi I have had a problem crop up several times recently, I have a lot of Chinese content, and occasionally, when I make minor changes, upon saving I find that a good portion of the content is just gone. I changed just one word in the titles of two pages, and now almost all the content of both pages is gone.

It seems to perhaps be related to a problem I had when I migrated, many Chinese pages were not displaying right, and it was always a situation where any content after a comma would not display, I had to go back through each page and re-insert each comma. I am not sure if this is related, I just noticed that the contents that are left end in a comma.

Even if it's not the character set, it will let you export to a text .sql file where you can do a search-and-replace on any bad characters and then import everything.

Thanks BobRay, I saw that info on your site back when we were having another problem during the migration. My tech friend actually handled that one, and I never got an update on what was going on.

Its just weird because when I had to replace all those commas, it was still Chinese text, in fact the same character. And it wasn't only some commas, but every single one.

Your process of converting databases and tables frankly looks scary to me, no offense meant haha. Hoping to avoid that, but losing data abruptly is very, very worrying.

I will look into grabbing that sql file so I have the data if needed.
