How can I add column to an existing custom table in MODX database?

I have a custom table in MODX database set up and working, thanks to this article: http://bobsguides.com/custom-db-tables.html and now I need to add new column to this existing table. How can I do this the "MODX way"? Or do I have to create the component from scratch again?

I've asked this question on stackoverflow too, no answers so far...

Your class and map files and your schema don't know about the extra field, so just adding it in the DB won't work. I think this would be the easiest to go (assuming that you only have one table):

Add the field in the DB, delete your schema and run the snippet again (with both options on) to rewrite the schema and class and map files. Check the dates on the class and map files to make sure they got updated.

I won't guarantee that it will work, but I think it should.

If you have MIGX installed, you could just add your extra-field to your schema
input the name of your package into the field 'packageName'
and go to the tab 'add Fields' , click the button 'add Fields'

The MIGX - package - manager will recreate the map-files and add the new field(s) to your table(s).
The same does work for removing fields.
