    5. Element quick search & element name in query string

A search field w/ auto-complete in the tree area for searching an element by name.

The ability to hack the URL with an element's name instead of its ID number, to quickly bypass navigation in finding an element.

    Thoughts?

Bingo. Somebody tell this man what he's won? The search and auto complete is my dream feature, but in a key triggered modal.

Thank you James for starting this thread! The wonky tree has been my biggest concern for the future of MODX.

I have experienced everything listed here, except I rarely have more than 1 tab open so don't have the tree changing to another tab upon refresh.

I also have found that drag and drop for reordering the menu is buggy. About 1 in 4 times there is no indication for dropping in between resources, and you are forced to either go back and drop the draggee on top of itself or risk creating a container and child. Once this loss of drop placement indication happens the only way to get it back is to refresh the tree, and often I have to log out and back in to the manager.

I wonder though if we could back up a step and consider why the tree is refreshed after each save anyway? It is always slow, even when it doesn't result in a completely botched or inexplicably reordered menu. Evo didn't refresh after a save - or if it did it did so unobtrusively and I was unaware of it. The painful refresh was the first thing I noticed - and disliked - about Revo.

I am usually working on up-to-date versions of Firefox or Chrome on Windows machines.

          4. An option to view elements sorted FIRST by category SECOND by element type.
          5. Element quick search & element name in query string

Very good improvements. People ask for them in the tracker for years.

For element names, I use my browser search feature. You do have to have the entire section of the Tree open, however.

I'll be blogging this later, but here's a sneak peek for those interested in this now:

Wow, that looks fantastic. Is that from 2.3 or from 3.0?

Nice. Is this in the nightlies yet? (well, I could just grab the latest and find out for myself, but I'm lazy)
