How to enable search in MODX 1.0.6?

Hello!
I am very new in modx and I am need to put the search box on my site.
So I have two questions.
1. Can I enable the search in default configuration?
2. How can I install the estensions in modx 1..0.6.? I havent find any tutorial.

I'm sure AjaxSearch is including in MODX 1.0.6 by default, but it's worth upgrading to the lastest version of MODX in any case.
