I would be very interested to hear of any implementations of MODx in a local government context.
I am currently reviewing the CMS provision for a UK local authority and although I have used MODx for a number of smaller freelance projects I’m not sure if I’m brave enough put MODx forward for such a large scale project without seeing it working successfuly in a similar context elsewhere.
Any thoughts, examples, opinions discussion welcome!
I work for a "state" university, so technically we’re government

I wouldn’t hesitate to use MODx (I guess that’s obvious since we DO use MODx). For my needs (which include meeting government accessibility standards etc.) - MODx is extremely easy to work with and performs nicely. We have thousands of pages, and few problems (that aren’t self imposed...).
Standard Disclaimer
I could be totally wrong.
We’re implementing MODx into the College of Education here at the University of Texas at Austin, which runs at around 2000+ pages, 50+ faculty/staff updaters, and massive amounts of customization.
It’s going pretty smoothly - but it is a long, arduous process. You definitely have to be patient.

Similar case here, I work for a local branch of a scientific research institute (hence we’re part of the ministry of Education, and also connected with the ministry for Natural Risks Defense); the MODx implementation went well in terms of css-coding, validation, customization; I am not sure it is a good example to show around though, since editors (and faculty in general) pretty much don’t care about contributing contents, even less about translating to english !
