So I just changed hosts (both cpanel) using the cpanel migration/copy function. The transfer went find and the site loaded but the manager stopped working properly. I would be able to log in, the top navigation/tabs would load but the pages below would be blank.
I was able to log into phpmyadmin and change the compress_js & compress_css values to 0 instead of 1. I manually cleared out the core/cache file and the manager started to work properly again.
My question is what would cause this to work on one server over the other?
The environments are close to identical (same php version with installed options, mysql version, etc.)
Would love to pinpoint it so that I can enable the compression again. Modx is running the latest version 2.2.7.

This is typically caused by tighter restrictions imposed by the suhosin configuration on specific servers.
