I am currently updating a non profit art foundation’s website. I have used MODx for almost all of my sites for the past year, and I am confident that there is a way to solve this challenge. I will try to describe the problem concisely:

There is an archive of past exhibitions. Each exhibition has two artists, and should be organized like so:

    [exhibition1 date]
    [artist 1] curated by [curator1]
    [artist 2] curated by [curator2]

    [exhibition 2 date]
    [...]

these exhibitions will be listed as an archive and sorted by date on the exhibitions page, with each artist having a link to their artist page.

The problem i’m having involves parsing the content from the artist’s page and displaying them in Ditto (or something similar) on the exhibitions page.

I tried creating a template for the exhibition which included 2 TV’s to enter the doc ID for each artist. I then tried to parse that template in another ditto call on the events page, but it only showed the ditto call instead of the parsed snippet. I am trying to make this system as modular and automated as possible to avoid creating unnecessary or duplicate documents.

If anyone has any ideas or insights for this rather specific challenge, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
