  • 1. Move the entire core directory to somewhere above the web root (up into your home directory) - I created a directory called "modx", but you could just have it in the home directory. You can use sftp, or ssh and the command line.

    2. Upload the setup directory from the advanced version of Revo's download into your installation's web root. Run it in your browser (domain.com/setup).

    3. It will complain that your core path is invalid. Your core path will be something like /foo/bar/home/modx/core/ instead of /foo/bar/home/www/core/

    4. Run the setup in upgrade mode; you can rename the manager directory as well.

    5. Manually delete the core/cache folders.

If you rename your manager directory, remember that you won't be able to log in at domain.com/manager/ any more!

Note, if you do this, Snapshots/Upgrades/Backups from the Dashboard will not work properly anymore.

      • Hm... that is definitely a big disadvantage. Maybe not such a good idea after all; I keep forgetting that the Cloud is just shared hosting with a different client interface, and isn't really the place to be hosting if you're concerned about tight security.

Actually, Cloud is quite secure; each Cloud is sandboxed entirely, and cannot access any other cloud. Secondly, the "core/" directory is blocked from web-access, so it's essentially the same as moving the core.

          • That is good to know. Is this kind of information posted somewhere?
