So I’ve run into this problem with confirmation e-mails being sent from MODx to the Web User who just signed up... they are not receiving confirmation e-mails.

I’ve set up a TXT record with my domain registration company using their SPF wizard, but still nothing.

Has anyone had this problem and been able to resolve it?

    Thanks!

Hard to say what the problem is. Can you post the full headers of one of the rejected emails?

I’ve had similar problems with Yahoo! mail, something about the configuration of their "greylisting" service causes a lot of problems for a lot of people.

Unfortunately Hotmail is not rejecting the e-mails or putting them in the Junk folder...it’s do nothing...it gives no indication that they ever existed. In other words, the e-mails sent out are going into Hotmail’s blackhole...I don’t get a return e-mail or anything else.

When you had that problem with Yahoo, was there a work around or some setting (i.e. SPF) or anything else you were able to figure out to make it work?

          Thanks!

No, I had my Yahoo correspondent add me to his Address Book, then all was well. Most of the time, it just takes hours for the mail to finally get accepted, but sometimes it just wasn’t showing up at all.

No mails sent to hotmail addresses, neither through eForm nor from the manager, are arriving there. But we are not alone: http://www.iis-aid.com/articles/iis_aid_news/are_hotmail_cutting_their_own_throat

Yeh, it’s very frustrating that Hotmail is not receiving anything nor alerting me with a NDR. Like the link nightsignals provided, I too provided the SPF policy for my domains and I’ve gotten nothing back from Hotmail.

So what do you do on your website? Put up a note for Hotmail users?

I might try your suggestion Susan and add the e-mail address to another Hotmail account’s list of contacts and if I’m lucky, it will work on other Hotmail accounts as well.

Maybe a workaround is using SMTP instead of mail() for sending those mails?

How would that make a difference? mail() just calls the SMTP transport mechanism.

What you should do is a add a message before and after the form stating that to successfully receive email from please add @domain.com to their safelist or address book.

You could even go as far as putting mini tutorials on how to do this for the most popular free web mails on you’re site as well.
