Hi, I have modx 0.9.6 installed, great program, before I worked with wordpress hacked into a cms.

Since I went on modx I see that googlebot stopped crawling my site. On wordpress google was pinged, plus a load of other sites as well, which got google to index new pages real quick.

So I decided to install the modx_ping module.

Seems to work, have to wait and see when the crawling starts again. But here is the problem: the site comes to a grinding halt while pinging. If I try to open a page while the ping goes on, tough luck, I have to wait. I am on a freebsd dedicated server, which is double opteron and hardly uses its resources, just a few sites with minimal traffic on it, so there are no hardware resource problems here.

Anybody know this problem and does anybody know of a solution for this?

    thanks

    Robert

What is your ping list. I know with older versions of WP that long pinglists or dead ping sites would cause WP to timeout the operation. Try cutting your pinglist to one site first if you get the same problem try another and if the same try a third if that still happens then it is likely the script. If you pick up speed you may be able to weed out the trouble URL and see if that helps.

I don’t remember what WP did to fix the ping timeouts but after 2.03 they were gone.

      Hope this helps,

      Jay
