    Hi there,

I'm busy working on some SEO for one of my Modx projects and i have a question based on making cleaner URL's.

The webshop in this case has some categories with product groups underneath them. In those product groups are the actual products based. In the backend (modx), the main categorie name is only used for a better structure in the document tree. But when i go to a product page the URL shows this map from the document tree. The problem with this is that i have really long URL's and i have a feeling Google doesn't like that?! So basically i want the "naaimachines/borduurmachines" document not to be shown in my URL.

Is this possible by changing some settings for the document or by any other method?

I have made some screenshots so you might understand my problem a bit easier.

I really appreciate any help that can be provided,

    Coen

Click the settings tab of your resource, check freeze URI and input the URL (relative to site URL) you want the resource to have.

If you set the use_alias_path System Setting to no, you won't get the full path in the URLs.

Hi, thanks for the info but it's not working. If i do that i get a 404 error shown. And i don't want them all to be gone just the 'map' you see in the picture. The only reason i'm using that map is for a better user interface for my client. I would like the URL to be like this; www.eltinknaaimachines.nl/janome/productpage.html and not www.eltinknaaimachines.nl/naaimachines-/-borduurmachines/janome/productpage.html.

Right now the 'map' all the product categories are under is shown in the URL but i don't want that to happen.

I hope this is a better explanation than before?

          Thanks

In that case jpdevries' answer is a better choice.
