FULL DISCLOSURE: I've seen this idea tossed around somewhere in the forums, but I can't remember where. So I thought I should revive it.

The current feature request system could use some improvements. It's great for bug tracking, but it lacks in user-friendliness and community engagement. It's a very useful tool to have, but a lot of people don't use it in its current state. What a waste!

    Please let's change it!

For MODX 3, I propose an intuitive, interactive, community-centered and less technical system. One that would make it fun to suggest new ideas and poll-test those ideas to see what's really hot. This great imaginary system will only work if it's well promoted - not buried in a creative graveyard. Why not make it a first-class citizen and promote its latest posts up there in the top right hand corner next to the big boys? And while we're at it, why not announce its imminent epic release date (if it's released) via one of those Jay Gilmore's fancy blog posts?

Less talk, let's show you what I mean:

Cpanel, Pinterest, Zendesk, WHMCS and others have something close to what I have in mind.

Here's the one from WHMCS: http://requests.whmcs.com/

    What do you think?

There is a voting plugin for Redmine that might work for that.

It's great that Redmine has a native voting plugin. At least we won't need to reinvent the wheel. I guess what's mostly needed at this point is a facelift. It really needs to be more inviting and less technical from a visual standpoint. I hope this won't be perceived a suggestion to dumb things down, but rather as a tip to make it even better. We need a greater community involvement if MODX 3 is going to be a game changer.

Github is great as well. I'm just not sure how many MODX users spend time there.

I'm not the best designer out there, but I'll try to work on a mockup and see what you all think of it.

I think it's more about how much time the rest of the world spends on Github than MODXers. 1/2 of 1% of the world probably knows about MODX. With 3.0, we need to think about the other 99.5%.

It's actually quoting Ryan Thrash but ya, it really is. People are spoiled these days. If a UX doesn't make them happy they won't use it, unless they have no other choice.

I agree with Treigh. I think some CSS tweaks to Redmine would be a great idea.

Just curious, is the current Revo release the last one of the 2 series?

There will be a 2.3.x release.
