I have a MODX install of the latest version and every time I try to login to the manager with the correct credentials the page just refreshes.

The site is hosted in a windows environment (FML) IIS7 so I think it might be an issue or a setting on the server, I created a new user via the DB I resetted the users password via the DB as well and still no luck.

So last night I decided to re-run setup and guess what I was able to login, now I try to login today and the issue is there again I manually cleared the cache folder I deleted all my cookies etc and it still giving me this issue.

With that said anyone have any ideas WTF is going on?

    Thanks.

What other properties in the site and server do you have setup for fastcgi? Sounds like on the normal server app recycle something is going wrong; to test theory simple run your setup and verify again that you can login then recycle the app pool.

Also do you have any caching enabled on the site?

Thats exactly what I have to do to be able to login once again.

Once the manager login issue occurs I have to re-run setup and only then I can login again.

Where or what should I be looking for on the server so I can tell the person managing it?

Is there anything I can check on the phpinfo that could help find the culprit?

        Thanks.

It sounds like a session issue, so it could be related to either the session save path or the domain you come in on (which might be different for Setup versus index.php).

Sorry, the goal in redoing the setup and then cycling the app pool was to see if the issue is in the Application Pool recycling and PHP process cycling. In windows if the settings are not correct between the InstanceMaxRequests and PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS then you can have issues in that regard. Issue will typically manifest after IIS application pool cycle schedule.

Recommendation for trouble shooting starting points:

              1) Verify that the FastCGI Application settings match for InstanceMaxRequest and PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUEST
              2) Temporarily disable Output Caching
              3) Disable WinCache if installed on the server (maybe be done on per site bases depending on server OS version and PHP Version)

Before trying any of these steps try the previous recommendation to try to force an immediate duplication of the issue. Then step through the steps above to and repeat the process to see if you can find the root cause.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
