hi,
Cannot install MODX cause of this problem,
Checking database: MODX could not create your database. Please manually create your database and then try again.
I tired to do it manually creating database on phpmyadmin but still same problem.
If you created it successfully via phpmyadmin, and the mysql user has access to this database, then the setup won't show this error.
Maybe double check the full name of your database again.
Please also check you have created a mysql user and given this user access to the database you created
If you have access to cPanel this is relatively easy to do.
