    i’ve copied a MODx instalation to a new domain name

    while the MANAGER work the FRONT-END of the website is using the OLD DOMAIN NAME

    I’ve changed the settings in the DATABASE and in the /MANAGER/INCLUDES/CONFIG.INI.PHP file ... but the site still puts the old domain name into the menu links?

    Any ideas?

      Have you cleared the cache? I’ve forgotten to clear it before moving a site before, and the old cached pages are still in the cache and get served.

        I "refereshed" the site ... didn’t make any difference?

        What is stranger is if i type in the link say

        xxx.com/index.php?id=27
        xxx.com/index.php?id=123

        the typed in links work ... but the links created on the page dynamically don’t?

        Any other suggestions huh

          Two thoughts:

          1. See if you have a rewrite rule in .htaccess

          2. Check the settings in the manager under Tools | configuration.

          Hope this helps,

          Bob

            Try the modx cache. In the manager under the site tab the option ’clear cache’. The browser refresh would not have any effect on the site cache.

              Was runing old version of MODx and "refresh" was the "clear cache" option .. have just upgraded to the latest version and have the same problem. I did pop the following into config.inc.php

              $base_url	='http://www.xxx.com/';
              $base_path	='d:/domains/xxx.com/wwwroot/';
              $site_url	='http://www.xxx.com/';

              if (!defined('MODX_BASE_PATH')) 	define('MODX_BASE_PATH', 	$base_path);
              if (!defined('MODX_BASE_URL')) 		define('MODX_BASE_URL', 	$base_url);
              if (!defined('MODX_SITE_URL')) 		define('MODX_SITE_URL', 	$site_url);
              if (!defined('MODX_MANAGER_PATH')) 	define('MODX_MANAGER_PATH', $base_path.'manager/');
              if (!defined('MODX_MANAGER_URL')) 	define('MODX_MANAGER_URL', 	$site_url.'manager/');

              not it still thinks it’s on the old domain?

              seem to be getting closer though ... not sure if it helps but i’ve got TEMPLATE VARIABLE issues as well...

                I would search for the old domain through the dump of your mysql database with a text editor.

                  Excellent idea.

                  I had a similar problem a while back but can’t remember how I fixed it. I think it might have been a rewrite rule in an .htaccess file in a directory above the site directory.
