Constant caching errors with 2 sites after upgrading to 2.2.7

After upgrading two sites to 2.2.7 I'm getting a constant stream of caching errors in the logs for both sites.

I've gone through the regular procedures of manually clearing the core cache, flushing permissions, sessions etc but to no avail. All core cache folders have 755 permissions. Core folder is located under the public web folder though.

Errors are only generated when using the manager, front-end seems to caching fine.

Is anyone else experiencing this or have any other suggestions?

It seems caching in the manager is completely broken. The cache files are being created with an 0644 permission, but the manager doesn't seem to be able to read them back.

On each page load I have a crapload of these:

dont know if this is related...but it's definitely annoying =)

Tried moving the core back into public web space thinking it may have trouble accessing the cache directory but alas, still the same errors.

@exside — disable the cache_db setting in your installation and see if that problem goes away. Is there a reason you have enabled this setting in your site?

@Dan — this sounds like a permissions problem or a problem with moving your core after running setup (always place the core and then run setup). Are you using the advanced or traditional package? Are all your cache Setting values out of the box?

When I moved the core, I altered the config files re-ran setup as described in http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Hardening+MODX+Revolution#HardeningMODXRevolution-core

Core paths are correct in all the config.core.php files.

I'm using the traditional package. Cache settings were as default. I tried disabling some caching but ran into the repeating archivist errors as described here: https://forums.modx.com/thread/83948/archivist-erros-logs-backend-in-2-2-7

Cache file permissions seem to be working fine (755 on folders, 644 on files), are there any other permissions besides cache files I should be looking for? [ed. note: absent42 last edited this post 13 years, 5 months ago.]

ok, that could be the issue and yes, the reason is very slow page loading time and slow manager (6-10 seconds when cache is cleared), probably due heavy use of getResources (I guess, even very optimized calls) and other medium to high complexity stuff, so I thought this speeds things up a bit, am I wrong with this assumption?

I exported the site contents with Vapor and imported it into a fresh install of MODX thinking this might solve any installation configuration issues but the problem but the errors came back right after loading the site.

Does anyone have any ideas what I might need to look for in order to fix this?

If you are sure the permissions on all folders/files at core/cache/ have the proper permissions for PHP to write to it, then perhaps you have a bad file uploaded in your installation? Did you upload MODX to the server via FTP? Any other custom paths stored in System Settings?
