    Hi,

Just wanted to say how impressed I am with ModX, I have been a long time user of Etomite CMS and tried ModX some time ago. However I decided to give ModX another go today and WOW!!!! How much work have you been doing on this!!! It is incredible.

By far the most impressive thing I have seen in a very long time! Absolutely amazing, cannot wait to explore all the new features and powerful stuff you have created.

    Very, very impressed.

    Just wanted to share that.

    Thank you,

    Best wishes,

    Paul.

      Paul,

Welcome to the forums. Glad you are loving MODX. It's the hard work of many contributors that makes it so great. Are you using MODX Evolution or Revolution? What's your favourite part?

        I'm using Revolution 2.2.0-pl2

Just getting to grips with the basics, am still getting stuck on simple things :-( although am watching Ronnie O'sullivan on the snooker at the same time so am a bit distracted at the moment.

I am most looking forward to trying out the management UI. I think that is where, at least for me, so many other systems fall down. In the past I have simply created admin areas myself and not let users anywhere near the actual manager itself. Am hoping that the configurable manager UI will save me having to do all that.

The package management looks great as well.

First I am going to get a relatively simple site up and running just to get some practice again with some basic templating, snippets and chunks. I gave up a bit with CMS's frustrated when Eto died and WP, Joomla et al are all so controlling with desperately heavy footprints. ModX seems to have maintained all the flexibility I loved and speed of deployment, whilst providing a richness and depth I am so impressed with.

Have also been building a large web app myself from scratch with Codeigniter (my framework of choice at the moment) but if all goes well I may look at rebuilding it again with ModX. It is quite far down the line now though so perhaps not just yet.

I cannot believe how far ModX has come and to my tastes all in the perfect direction. I strongly suspect I am going to fall in love with ModX smiley

        Best wishes,

        Paul.

          Paul,

Wonderful to hear. Interesting to see you come full circle form Etomite and across other platforms and frameworks. Be sure to share your experience, good and bad.

          Cheers,

          Jay

            Welcome aboard. smiley

You should definitely upgrade before doing a production site. Some security issues have been fixed since 2.2.0.

BTW, it's MODX now, not ModX. wink

Thanks BobRay, have upgraded now and am now on MODX Revolution 2.2.7-pl. The upgrade was a cinch and took no time at all, will keep system fully upgraded from now on. I actually used a one-click auto install from my host initially, but should have known that would be out of date! Upgraded manually with no problems at all smiley

Will be exploring this over the next couple of days - been looking forward to it.

                  Best wishes to everyone,

                  Paul.

You are right. According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, only "MODx" is the valid registered trademark.
